It's been a while... again. πŸ˜„

Windows has come with his default yellow folder style for a long time now and I always tried changing it, until Windows 10 (or maybe 8.1, I don't remember) made it more difficult to make this kind of customization. Looking online, there are a lot of icon packs available, but they change "too much" of the look and feel and I was never really satisfied with the results.

Then I've recently discovered this awesome iPack Builder, which, supposedly, makes it really easy to create your own icon packs, and decided to give it a try. I then fired up my Adobe Fireworks (yes, I said "Fireworks", let it go πŸ˜…) and started vectoring those folders.

There's a total of 41 folder icons on imageres dll, but most of them is a combination of other existing icons, so that helped a lot. πŸ˜€ There was though a few ones which I couldn't find a resource anywhere dll-based, and also didn't look very good on vector, so I had to manually crop and recreate all anti-aliasing to be the most close to the original as possible. These ones sucked. 😡

In the end, everything turned out great, and it got me so excited I ended up making various different packs. πŸ˜‚ So I decided to share them, specially because there may be people out there wanting a more "clean" variation of the default folders.

Please enjoy my Icon Packs gallery.

Well, it's been a while.
I was playing the Musashi games for the second time these past days and I noticed the many swords and scrolls symbols that I haven't really payed attention on the first time I've played them.
Well, to be fair, I was very little when I first played them (*cough* *cough* purple-demo-disc *cough* *cough*). xD
Anyway, since I'm always looking for an excuse to vector something, I then decided to give these symbols the same treatment I gave to my Legacy of Kain ones.
I know they are extremely simple, and to be honest I fell kind of silly to upload them to deviantART, but this is really the kind of art that I like: simple ones. =)

And then, after 58 days and 10772 lines of pure JAVA, I've finally finished my Duodecim project. =D

It took a lot of time to learn how to properly use some of the language aspects, and there are still somethings I lack the knowledge, but I think that about 99% of what I had in mind I was able to accomplish, and that alone is a major win for me. After all, this is my first "real" project since I've got my programming skills about two and a half years ago. By "real" I mean that this project is the first thing I do that can actually help others and is not just some random college assignment.

So, if you play Dissidia and like me have a custom battle theme set, wait no more and make those music titles match your own custom soundtrack right now! *fuckyeah*

About JAVA

1 min read
It's been a while since I've learned JAVA, but I've never studied it deeply until the last winter vacations (Brazil's winter, btw) when I started a small project for renaming Dissidia 012 battle tracks to make their title match the customized soundtrack I've put in the game.
The engine was a piece of cake (xD), but the interface customization is pretty annoying to make, and I wouldn't be satisfied until it becomes the prettiest ever.
So, in order to learn more I intend to make some small studies here and there about some aspects of the language, and I also intend to provide the source code so other people can learn (or laugh) from my examples.

Besides Fireworks, I also have Photoshop and Illustrator, but I still haven’t figured out how to use them yet. With college and the new Dissisia game taking so much of my time, I get so tired I can’t find the determination to; or maybe I just prefer using Fireworks instead, who knows... However, I'm looking forward to learning how to use them properly and be able to do things more as a pro than a rookie.
